Welcome! My name is Erica Bortnick and I go by Shadow Wing in the world of cosplay. I first picked up a pencil and started to draw when I was five. Since then, art in all of its forms has been a vital part of my life. Over the years I've worked with most mediums avilable, from drawing and painting, stained glass and pottery, to digital art and sewing. There is something so freeing about being able to create and grow creatively and I'm always looking for new ways to expand my skillset!

I didn't discover the art of costumery and sewing until I discovered the cosplay scene near the end of highschool and quickly fell in love with everything about it. The people were amazing, inspiring, and encouraging. Everyone worked so hard on costumes that they then proudly wore and shared with others. I learned to learn to sew as a result and have been challenging myself with more complex costumes ever since!

I graduated from Syracuse University with a BFA in Illustration and a minor in animation. I currently work as a 3D graphic artist and in my spare time focus on cosplay as my most serious hobby while persuing other creatives outlets in my spare time. I have been fortunate enough to work with local production studio Digital Thunderdome on various projects over the past few years involving my costume and prop skills.

I can't wait to see where my creative ambitions lead me in life!
